- He is currently a University Professor and Senior Fellow Jack Gordon Institute at FIU.

- Dr. Rosenberg received his Ph.D. in political science with a graduate certificate in Latin American and Caribbean Studies from the University of Pittsburg in 1976.
- He joined the faculty of FIU in 1976, where he served as professor of political science and founding director of the Latin American and Caribbean Center.
- In 2009, Dr. Rosenberg was appointed president of FIU.
