Dr. Erich de la Fuente, Adjunct Professor, Politics and International Relations, Florida International University 
Dr. Erich de la Fuente is a professor of international relations and a senior research fellow at the Adam Smith Center for Economic Freedom at Florida International University. He has over 30 years of experience advising private sector companies in government affairs, strategic communications, crisis management, and political risks. He has also worked for multilateral organizations on programs focused on media strengthening, anti-corruption, the rule of law, and political risk assessments throughout Latin America and Eastern Europe. He lived in Kyiv from 2008 to 2010 and has worked extensively in the region for the last two decades, including making several visits to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion in 2022. Dr. Erich de la Fuente was also the lead author of the recently published Latin America Country Risk Index and Analysis, which identified and analyzed the trends of Latin America's principal political, economic, social, and international risks in 2024. The work also provides investment recommendations based on expert opinions. He is currently leading the 2025 edition of this research initiative across multiple countries. He earned his Ph.D. in Governance and Policy Analysis at Maastricht University. He holds an M.A. in Latin American Studies from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and a B.A. in International Relations from Florida International University. He is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese and proficient in Italian and Russian. Dr. De La Fuente is the author of the book “Limiting Media Freedom in Democratic States: How Governments Use Instruments to Curtail News Media Freedom,” published in 2022. Kenneth earned an M.A. in Latin American Studies from Florida International University and a B.A. in Foreign Affairs and Latin American Studies from the University of Virginia.
